The “Rest” of Easter Sunday
Easter is not just one weekend, according to the Early Church fathers. It was meant to be celebrated for seven full weeks, leading up to the celebration of Pentecost Sunday. It was a time of joy and reflection. And this study pictures the reflection and new direction two disciples’ lives took when they encountered the Risen Christ, joining them on a seven-mile hike and making himself “visible” in the breaking of the bread.
So many lessons to be garnered from this event. Jesus is apparently with us always, even when we take a walk. Even when we can’t see him.
So don’t be afraid! “Rest” in him.
Remember—-you’re not alone! Emmanuel is true! God is with us!
