How do human beings respond to changes in ministry approaches? 

 There were two groups of people that Luke summarizes.

 There were the “people” in general and the “tax collectors.” Then there were the Pharisees and the lawyers. One group “justified” God by accepting his will for them and getting baptized by John.  The other group did the opposite---they rejected “God’s purpose for themselves.”  We’ll pick up on that in this and add things we didn’t quite get to in the last.
