LUKE 7:18-35 - Jesus and John the Baptist PART 2
Ever felt like you were in a wrestling match with God?
What happens when God doesn’t meet your expectations, and you find yourself stuck in a really hard and annoying trial?
John the Baptist had to live through that. He’d come to have “doubts” that Jesus was the one, despite what God had told him before. As we posited earlier, perhaps John expected Christ to be different. He had rightfully warned people to repent before the “burning of the chaff with unquenchable fire.” But perhaps he expected that to come during Jesus’ lifetime (Luke 3:4-7).
So his human expectations weren’t met.
And there was the temptation to be offended, even in Jesus!
We’ll see how Jesus counsels John for that in this study.
And in doing so, we’ll see how he counsels you and me with phrase:
“Blessed is he who is no offended because of me.”
Hang in there! Continue to wrestle with God in prayer. And don’t let him go until He blesses you!
He wants you to win!
