Jesus could walk on water, and above the chaos (Matthew 14:22-32). Jesus could rebuke and calm the “whelming flood” and the raging winds. Jesus rules over chaos, and he always will. Jesus demonstrates that power and its efficacy for the good of all people by going into the land of the Gerasenes, a Gentile territory, across the Sea of Galilee and healing a man possessed by multiple demons. The man is restored to his right mind, and the people of the region, after seeing all that transpires, beg him to leave their territory. But a seed was planted. The kingdom message was introduced. It is an unstoppable kingdom, and Jesus brilliantly lays a foundation for future kingdom growth.
