LUKE 6:43-45  The Sermon on the Plain Part 5: A Tree and Its Fruits

In the Sermon the Plain, which has its counterpart in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus progresses from one subject to the next seamlessly and quite eloquently. He was inspired by the Holy Spirit in the Sermon---he gave it to his disciples after an all-night session of prayer, and after appointing the 12 disciples who would become his apostles----meaning “ones sent.” In this section, he speaks of a tree and its fruits, and tells us where our words come from (out of our heart).  Let’s dig deep into Jesus’ heart, and see what words came out it, as we study this next portion of Scripture.
