Luke 3:21-22 So Why Did Christ Get Baptized Anyway?

He was sinless. We all know that. Or at least, he’d never committed any sin, though tempted in every way.

But consider this. We come from God, who is Trinitarian in nature. Therefore, the reality that springs out of Him (aka, us and creation) would “ontologically” (naturally) be Trinitarian in nature too. Everything is interconnected.

So the good of one spreads in some ways to others. But so does the bad too.

Our creation was riddled with sin. So our sin became his. And for our sakes, he got baptized.

In effect, like the Scripture says, “he became our sin” (2 Corinthians 5:21) so we might become the “righteousness of God.”

So our sin became his. And he got baptized like all the rest of the people did. And when he did, heaven was torn open, and you could see the wonderful Holy Spirit of God, lighting on the cleansed recreation, gentle as a dove.

And God reminded Jesus, and all the rest of us, who we really are. Beloved children. In whom He is well pleased.
