What Really Matters
I recently to a break and went to Glacier Park in the beautiful state of Montana.
It was, as you’d expect, off-the-charts beautiful. Words fail to describe the majesty of the mountains, the lakes, and the forests, the incredible beauty.
And going to the “mountain top” with Jesus as your traveling partner leads you to think about what’s really important in your life as you go back down to the valleys of life---where real fruit is often born.
As I was sitting in the airport and reflecting on getting back into real life, a few concepts came to me. I called it “A Meditation on the Way Home.” I shared it on my Facebook page, and thought I’d share it with you as we gear up for having a display table for Smiling Icon Ministries at the 2025 XLSUMMIT on July 11.
So it's time to get back to real life. And as I sit in the airport awaiting our return flight, I want to remind myself of the most important things.
I am first and foremost a Christian and not a political person. I believe that Christ is my King and that all leadership should be based on not just believing in Him but being like Him.
In fact, Paul in Galatians 4:16 says it best.
"My little children, I am again suffering in labor pains for you until Christ is formed in you."
A maturely functioning Christian is not just someone who proclaims belief in Christ or even believes in Christ. Demons believe in Christ and tremble.
A mature "Christianos" (or "Christ-one") not only believes in Christ but lets Christ in to be "formed" in Him. He lets Christ live His life in him or her.
He acts like Christ. And He espouses Christ's values.
So, from what I'm reading the Scripture, here's what I would expect of a fully functioning person in whom Christ is being "formed" in him.
I am committed to letting Christ in and letting Him live in me and be formed in me. And to not only receive it but live it and give it.
And that’s why I’m serving God by establishing Smiling Icon Ministries.
